Instructables is one of my favorite websites. It has how to guides for a zillion things from crafts to tech and about everything else. If you’re a do-it-yourselfer this is nirvana in a website.

Here’s a step by step guide to building your own 60 watt solar panel. The step-by-step instructions are very easy to follow. Who knew you could get the basic solar cells on Ebay?!

Here’s the link.

  1. Thanks for the link. Easy step by step photos. Many people in Florida spend $600-$1500 on portable generators just in case of a loss of power during hurricane season. This involves needing fuel and many carbon monoxide accidents when people leave the generators in confined space.

Sure is a better bet to build a few of these solar panels – and cheaper too.

  2. With a battery for storage, one or two of these units would keep you in the basics of lights, radio, maybe a small TV. All that free energy coming from the sun – seems like the common sense answer to our energy needs.

    Thanks for the comment 🙂
